When Demers decides to paint a subject, he does so with intention. “If I am exited about a subject, it is because I can see it as a painting and not an object or scenery,” he says. “I have already made an artistic translation in my mind. That mental image helps navigate me through my painting process.”
Demers began his professional career as an illlustrator and found immediate success. Later, he shifted, in the early eighties, to an artist career. Again, success came early and he has risen to the top tier of elite marine and seascape artists. While he lives in southern Maine, he resides in the Boothbay area during the summer months when he is not traveling or conducting painting workshops.
