Last fall I spent a delightful and productive painting holiday at this unusual place. with it’s expansive views in every direction, you only had to step outside to find inspiration. I painted without distraction from morning to late afternoon, stopping only for lunch and the occasional side trip. A spacious studio in the new barn was valuable in case of rain and in the evening there was engaging conversation around a fire. Surrounded by gardens and graceful old trees, this 17th century, cape style house has been tastefully restored and expanded. All together, the retreat offers a rare tranquility in a noisy age and I’m sure it would appeal to artist’s in any field. Alan Keith January 2009 |

Allen and Priscilla Bunker, owners of The ART District by allen david GALLERY in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, would like to introduce you to Farnham Ridge in Acton, Maine. In 2003 we purchased this circa 1780 cape and spent 3 years renovating it into a 3,000 sf showplace. We also added a 4,000 sf three-story barn, including a tower that has views almost to the Atlantic to the east and the White Mountains to the west. We invite you to consider the Retreat for your next artistic outing. |
